First Step House Of Del Ray provides supportive living environments for men and women who desire a drug and alcohol free life. Those who do apply and decide to stay with us @ First Step House must be serious about their recovery and willing to learn how to practice new behaviors and attitudes towards a recovery based lifestyle. (lets face it our way of thinking just isn't working for us anymore)



Residents of The First Step House Of Delray Beach are expected to follow the suggestions based upon their chosen 12 step fellowship. The objective of the First Step House is to guide residents towards building a solid foundation on which to grow allowing them to learn how to be positive, independent, productive members of society. This is done by keeping the residents accountable to the following expectations.

1. Must attend at least (1) twelve step meeting a day for the first 90 days.After the first 90 days it is suggested that if 90 meetings in 90 days is working for you just do it again.
2. Must have a sponsor and must be working with that sponsor within three weeks of residency.
3. Must talk via telephone every day with at least 5 fellow addicts/alcoholics who have 1 year or more of sobriety.
4. Must attend the weekly in-house meeting.
5. Must be working, in school or volunteering a minimum of 25 hours per week within three weeks of residency.

Living in a unit with others suffering from the same disease of addiction can at times be difficult. In order for an optimum living situation all residents will be required to follow a set of guidelines and house rules. Also a phase system will be used for curfews and certain situations of privilege. Some of the rules are as follows.


The use of any alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. Residents must disclose any prescription medications they are currently taking. Residents must get First Step House approval before starting or continuing any new prescriptions.

1. No members of the opposite sex are allowed on the property at any time.
2. Bedrooms must be clean and properly maintained at all times. Beds are to be made daily.
3. Residents are required to complete a rotating weekly chore list every Sunday. Houses are to stay properly maintained throughout the week.
4. The First Step House of Del Ray Beach is a smoke free facility. Smoking is permitted only in designated outdoor areas.

Residents are responsible for their own meals. Every residence has a full kitchen equipped with pots, pans, dishes, glasses and silverware. First Step provides pillows and lines for all beds. Residents are responsible for their own towels and toiletries. Residents are allowed to have cell phones and personal vehicles.
